Following Samsung's announcement of a new Galaxy S9 color option earlier today, some older Galaxy smartphones are now getting some time in the spotlight.
A few Samsung smartphones are now receiving their update to Android Oreo. First up, the Sprint versions of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are being updated to Android 8.0. The update bumps the S7 to version G930PVPU6CRE7 while the S7 edge is moving to G935PVPU6CRE7.
Meanwhile, AT&T is updating its Galaxy S7 active to Android 8.0 as well. The update is version G891AUCU3CRE7 and is 1.5GB in size. Also included in the update are the April 2018 Android security patches, FirstNet IOC2 for emergency first responders, and Mobile Hotspot APN support.
The update to Android 8.0 Oreo brings with it several new features, like autofill and notification dots. Also included is picture-in-picture, letting you watch video from one app while you perform other tasks on your phone. Samsung has included its own goodies, too, like high-contrast keyboard options.
These updates are now rolling out over the air, so if you've got a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge on Sprint or a Galaxy S7 active on AT&T, keep an eye out for 'em over the coming days.
