HMD Global today took the wraps off of three new Nokia phones, but that wasn't the only good news that the company had to share.
HMD Global plans to update all of its Nokia phones to Android P. That's according to Neil Broadley, HMD Global's Head of Product Marketing, who told Android Authority that the effort is part of the effort to keep its phones "pure, secure, and up-to-date."
This means that the new Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1, and Nokia 2.1 will be updated to Android P, as will recent releases like the Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 7 Plus. Older Nokia phones from HMD will be updated to Android P, too, like the Nokia 3, Nokia 6, and Nokia 8.
There's no timing yet for any of these updates, which shouldn't come as a surprise since we're still months out from the public release of Android P.
HMD Global has been pretty good with Android updates to its Nokia phones, and now it's keeping that up by promising Android P for all of its current devices. Not only is that exciting news for anyone that's already purchased a Nokia device because it means they've got a significant update coming, but it can also help to build some trust in HMD and entice anyone that's on the fence about buying a Nokia phone to take the plunge.
