Valve announced last week that it would launch a Steam Link app to let PC gamers play their titles on their Android or iOS device, and now Android users can give the app a go.

The Steam Link app is now available from the Play Store. The app is in beta form right now and requires Android 5.0 or higher. Valve says that for the best performance, you should should connect your computer to your router using Ethernet and that Android TV users should connect their set-top box to their router using Ethernet, while Android phone and tablet users should connect their device to the 5GHz band of their Wi-Fi network.

As for the iOS app, Valve has told Variety that it's pending further review. When it launches, it'll require an iOS device running iOS 10.0 or newer or an Apple TV running tvOS 10.3 or higher.

With the Steam Link app, you can stream your Steam games from your PC to your Android or iOS device, giving you the freedom to play your games anywhere in your house. The app will support Steam Controllers, MFi controllers, and more.

While the Steam Link app isn't going to give you total gaming freedom — you're not going to be streaming your games over LTE while you're out and about, for example — it's still a neat-looking app that'll let you play while you're in bed, on the patio, or wherever else your 5GHz Wi-Fi network will reach. Support for Android TV and Apple TV devices is great, too, because it'll let you game on your big screen with the same set-top box that you've already got.
