OnePlus continues to trickle out details of the OnePlus 6 ahead of the device's full reveal, today dropping some info abuot the upcoming flagship's design.
The OnePlus 6 will feature a glass design, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed. Lau explains that chose glass over metal for the OnePlus 6 because "glass communicates a transparent, bright, and pure feeling", adding that the OP6's glass design focuses on giving users a sense of value and a premium feel.
Lau also touts that the OnePlus 6 features 5 layers of Nanotech Coating to give the back of the phone a better impression of depth. Finally, the OP6 will include the same horizon design as previous OnePlus flagships.
OnePlus has used a few different materials on its flagship phones in the past, including metal and a sandstone finish. Now OnePlus is going with glass for the OnePlus 6, just like flagship devices from Apple, Samsung, and HTC. A glass design will definitely give the OnePlus 6 a premium feel, but it could also make the device a bit more fragile, which could lead to more people using a case than if it were made of metal.
