Remember that Vivo smartphone that was the first to boast an in-display fingerprint sensor? It's now available for pre-order in China.
Vivo is taking pre-orders for the X20 Plus UD, asking ¥3598 ($565 USD) for the device. The device's highlight feature is its fingerprint reader, which is built into the X20 Plus UD's 6.43-inch 2160x1080 display. The fingerprint reader is placed near the bottom of the screen.
The Vivo X20 Plus UD is also packing a dual rear camera setup with 12-megapixel sensors, a Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a microSD card slot. It's powered by a 3,905mAh battery and is running Android 7.1 Nougat.
While the X20 Plus UD looks like a nice enough device, the big draw here is the in-display fingerprint reader. It helps to give the device a cleaner look, and early reports say that it works just as well as the fingerprint readers that we've seen on other smartphones. It's unclear when we'll see more devices come to market with in-display fingerprint readers, but hopefully it's soon.
