Some of the Razer Phone's most notable features are its display and speakers, and today Razer has announced some news concerning both of them.
The Razer Phone is gaining support for HDR and Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 for Netflix. The latter is a first on mobile phones, offering users five full-bandwidth channels of audio and one low frequency effects channel. Meanwhile, the HDR support will offer expanded contrast and color range.
Existing Razer Phone owners will receive an over the air update this month to enable these features for Netflix. The update will also include the Netflix app with widget as well as firmware improvements to the screen and sound. This update will be preloaded on future Razer Phone releases.
One thing to keep in mind is that to take advantage of the HDR feature, you'll need to be subscribed to the Netflix premium plan, which is priced at $13.99 per month. The premium plan includes features like HDR, Ultra HD, and support for streaming to up to four screens at once.
