Cricket stops offering 8GB and 12GB rate plans

Earlier this month, we learned that Cricket Wireless was planning to add a new rate plan and add more data to select existing plans. It turns out that those weren't the only plan changes that Cricket had in the works.

Cricket has quietly killed off its 8GB and 12GB rate plans. It's unclear exactly when the plans were pulled, but the change was spotted by Droid-Life today, and those two plans were on Cricket's website less than one week ago.

The two plans offered unlimited talk and text as well as 8GB or 12GB of high-speed data usage for $50 and $60, respectively.

Now that those plans have been yanked, Cricket offers four rate plans that include data. There's a 2GB plan for $30 per month, a 5GB plan for $40 per month, and two unlimited plans. The Unlimited 2 plan includes unlimited talk, text, and data at 3Mbps for $55 per month, while the Unlimited plan includes unlimited talk, text, and data at 8Mbps for $60 per month.

It's disappointing that Cricket pulled its 8GB and 12GB plans, but it's also not surprising that that change was made now that the prepaid carrier offers two unlimited plans at similar price points.
