Nintendo’s next mobile game is official, and it’s based on Animal Crossing.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will launch on iOS and Android in late November. It’ll be free to play with in-app purchases available and will require iOS 9.0 and up or Android 4.2 and up.
So what is Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp? The game tasks you with creating a character for yourself and managing a campsite. This includes gathering resources to craft items, including furniture and decorative items. You can also make friends with characters in the game and then help them out to earn rewards.
You can also make friends with other real life Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp players, who may later visit your campsite.
In addition to your campsite, you can take your camper to the beach, a forest, a river, and an island. The camper can also be customized like your campsite.
During the game, you’ll collect Bells to spend on items. You’ll also be able to spend real money to buy Leaf Tickers that can be used to shorten the time needed to craft items, more easily acquire materials, and get unique camper exterior designs.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camper is a bit different than Nintendo’s last mobile game, Super Mario Run. Rather than collecting coins and jumping on animals heads, Animal Crossing is a bit more laid back, tasking you with creating a campsite that’s you and helping others to earn items. And while it may not be as action-packed as some other video games, Animal Crossing is still a popular series from Nintendo, and it’s good to see the company bringing another one of its major franchises to mobile.
