Google announced a lot of new hardware at its October 4th event, and today one of those devices has been made available for purchase.
The Google Store is now selling the updated Daydream View virtual reality headset that Google recently announced. The headset is priced at $99, $20 more than the previous generation Daydream View, and is available in three colors: Fog (ships in 2-3 weeks), Charcoal (ships by Oct. 22), and Coral (ships now).
Customers that purchase a new Daydream View before December 31st, 2017 will get a bundle of VR games worth more than $40.
This new Daydream View headset comes with new fabric and updated lenses for a more comfortable experience that’s also more immersive. As with last year’s model, this new Daydream View comes with a controller for playing games and navigating the user interface.
Google’s new Daydream View looks like a solid improvement on the previous model. It’s kind of a bummer that it’s slightly more expensive than the last version, but it sounds like Google has made some good improvements to the experience of using the new Daydream View, so the extra cash might be worth it.
