Heads up, Netflix subscribers, because your monthly bill is about to go up.
Netflix will increase the prices of two of its plans starting in November 2017. The standard $9.99 plan will grow to $10.99 per month, and the premium tier will go from $11.99 to $13.99 per month.
The price increase appears to only affect the U.S. right now. As for why this change is being made, here’s what Netflix had to say to Mashable:
“From time to time, Netflix plans and pricing are adjusted as we add more exclusive TV shows and movies, introduce new product features and improve the overall Netflix experience to help members find something great to watch even faster.”
This isn’t a huge increase every month, but it is something to be aware of if you’re a Netflix subscriber. The service continues to churn out original programming — it plans to spend $7 billion on it in 2018 — and so this price increase could help pay for all of that original content that Netflix wants to put out.
What do you think of this price increase? Will any of you drop Netflix because of it?
