Rumors have suggested that Apple is prepping a new iPhone and new Apple Watch hardware for reveal next month, but those may not be the only new devices that Apple shows off in September.
Apple is prepping a new Apple TV that supports 4K video streaming, say sources speaking to Bloomberg. This new Apple TV will reportedly have an updated processor to aid in 4K video streaming, but details on the set top box’s specs haven’t been given.
Apple is also allegedly planning to update its TV app to aggregate shows from the various apps that offer streamed video, making it easier for you to find content to watch.
While 4K televisions capable of displaying super high-res 4K content aren’t quite mainstream, these TV sets are steadily becoming more affordable and thus more attainable for most consumers. As adoption of 4K-capable TVs grows, we’ll likely see more 4K content available to take advantage of those TVs. There are already 4K-capable set top boxes from Roku, NVIDIA, and Amazon on the market, so it’s good that Apple may finally have a 4K set top box of its own on the market soon as well.
Do you watch 4K content with any regularity?
