Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 are some of the most hotly anticipated pieces of hardware in mobile, but those may not be the only new pieces of hardware that Google is planning to show later this year.
Google is prepping a new Chromebook Pixel model and a smaller Google Home at an event later in 2017, according to Android Police. Details on the new Chromebook at mostly unknown, but it could be the laptop that’s codenamed “Bison” that we heard about last year.
The Bison was rumored to feature specs like a 12.3-inch display, 32/128GB of storage, 8/16GB of RAM, a tablet mode, and an optional stylus. However, Bison was previously rumored to run an Android and Chrome OS combo named Andromedia, but this upcoming Chromebook Pixel will simply be a Chrome OS device. Again, it’s not confirmed that that Bison is the same device as the Chromebook Pixel that’s rumored today, but it is a possibility.
Meanwhile, Google is also said to be prepping a mini version of the Google Home. As with the new Chromebook Pixel, details on this mini Google Home are light.
It’s possible that the mini Google Home could be similar to Amazon’s Echo Dot. The Echo Dot has a built-in speaker that’s smaller than the speaker in the regular Echo and doesn’t have the same audio performance, but the Echo Dot is also considerably smaller and cheaper than the Echo. The Echo Dot is normally more than $100 less than the standard Echo, so it’ll be interesting to see how Google prices this rumored mini Google Home.
