It’s a new month, which means that it’s time for some new Android security patches from Google.
Google today unleashed the August 5, 2017 security patches for Nexus and Pixel devices. The full security bulletin can be found here, detailing the patches made to vulnerabilities in components from Broadcom, MediaTek, and Qualcomm as well as some framework and libraries patches.
These new August security patches will be pushed out over the air to the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player. Google does offer both OTA images and factory images with the latest security patches for folks that are comfortable sideloading an update and don’t feel like waiting for the OTA.
Now that Google has released the August security patches for its Nexus and Pixel devices, we wait while other manufacturers to build these patches into updates for their devices.
