Today Google unleashed a new Android O Developer Preview update, and with it came a new Easter egg.
A new octopus Easter egg has appeared in the Android O Developer Preview 4 release. To access it, go to Settings > System > About phone and tap on the “Android version” several times. You’ll then see the old Android O easter egg (shown above), which you should tap repeatedly. You’ll then be greeted by an octopus floating in some water.
This octopus will float around your screen on its own, but you can move it by tapping and holding it and then dragging it around your screen. The octopus will stretch out and follow your finger around your display as long as you’re holding down on it.
Google typically names its major Android releases after desserts, like N for Nougat and I for Ice Cream Sandwich. The company hasn’t announced what the dessert for Android O will be, but most people probably don’t consider octopus to be a dessert. Maybe Google is just having some fun with us by including the eight-legged octopus with a developer preview of Android 8.0? We’ll just have to wait and see.
