The Galaxy S8 Active has leaked a couple of times in recent months, and now we’re just waiting for Samsung and AT&T to make the device official. While we wait, though, another leak has surfaced to give us another look at the toughened Galaxy S8.
A Reddit user posted several images and video of the Galaxy S8 Active. The video has been taken down to protect anyone from getting into trouble, but several images of the phone have been mirrored.
The Galaxy S8 Active looks like what you’d expect, which is a Galaxy S8 with a toughened exterior. There’s a polycarbonate back and metal sides and the screen lacks the Galaxy S8’s curved edges in order to help make it, all to help make the GS8 Active tougher.
Spec details for this Galaxy S8 Active are light, but the leaker does say that the phone has a 4000mAh battery, which is 1000mAh larger than the standard Galaxy S8. It’s also said that the Galaxy S8 Active lacks the customizable Active button found on previous Galaxy S Active phones, instead packing a Bixby button just like the Galaxy S8.
Rounding out the details spilled by the Galaxy S8 Active leaker is that the phone appears to have a display that’s the same size as the Galaxy S8 (which is a 5.8-inch display) and that the GS8 Active’s model number is SM-G892A. The phone is said to be SIM-locked to AT&T.
It’s unclear when Samsung and AT&T will officially announce the Galaxy S8 Active. The preview few Active phones launched in late May or early June, which we’re well past at this point in the year. At least now we’ve got some clear photos to look at while we wait.
