Now that the Galaxy S8 has launched, a lot of focus is going to be placed on Samsung’s next flagship, the Galaxy Note 8. Today two reports have surfaced that claim to have some info on the next Note.
Samsung is currently planning to announce the Galaxy Note 8 in late August, according to a source speaking to Reuters. Korean publication Naver goes one step farther, saying that an unnamed Samsung official has said that the Note 8 will be revealed in New York City on August 26th.
Today’s reports also say that the Galaxy Note 8 will feature a display that’s slightly larger than the 6.2-inch screen found on the Galaxy S8+ as well as a dual rear camera setup, the latter of which would be a first for Samsung.
A Galaxy Note 8 debut in the latter half of August would mean that the device was being announced a bit later than other recent Notes, which were announced in the first half of the month. Samsung debuted the Galaxy S8 later in the year than previous models, possibly to give themselves more time for battery testing following the Note 7 disaster, and so it’s possible that the company could do the same for the Note 8. A late August debut for the Note 8 would give Samsung some extra time for battery testing but still allow them to show the new phone before the IFA 2017 conference and likely the debut of Apple’s new iPhone, too.
