The first details of the next OnePlus flagship smartphone have been revealed.
OnePlus’s next big phone will be called the OnePlus 5, the company has confirmed to The Verge. This means that there will be no OnePlus 4, as the number four is considered to be unlucky in China, where OnePlus’s headquarters are located. Also, the number five was worn by former NBA player Robert Horry, who several OnePlus employees are fans of.
The OnePlus 5 will make its official debut this summer. No other details about the device, like a more specific launch timing or its specs, have been given.
Of course, while OnePlus is waiting to reveal the features of the OnePlus 5, the rumor mill is happy to try and fill them in now. A recent report suggested that the OnePlus 5 will offer a dual rear camera setup, something that we’ve seen on a lot of flagship smartphones lately.
We’ll have to wait for OnePlus to reveal the OnePlus 5 this summer before we know its official spec list, but considering the features of previous OnePlus flagship models, it seems likely that the OP5 will have a high-end feature set. That means we could see a Snapdragon 835 and 6GB of RAM. What also seems likely is that the OnePlus 5 will be priced aggressively, which is something that OnePlus has strived for with all of its previous phones.
