Samsung Galaxy S8 hardware won't have any carrier branding

Carrier branding is pretty common when it comes to Android phones, even flagship models like the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G6. But that’s not the case with the Galaxy S8.

There will be no US carrier branding on the Samsung Galaxy S8. That means that no matter which carrier you get your GS8 or GS8+ from, you’ll get a front that’s nearly all screen and a back that only includes Samsung’s branding and the name of your model (and some regulatory text).

Branding can ruin the design of a phone, and we’ve seen some pretty egregious carrier branding in the past. For example, the Verizon Galaxy Note II had huge Verizon and 4G LTE tattoos on its rear and even a Verizon logo on its home button. And while some carriers have shown restraint when it comes to branding in recent years, it’s nice to learn that there won’t be any branding on any of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ models to take away from their attractive design.

When it comes to carrier branding on smartphones, are you opposed or do you not mind?
