We haven’t heard much about the Moto X Pure Edition lately, but that’s changing today with some good news for owners of the former Moto flagship.
Motorola is sending emails to Moto X Pure Edition owners to let them know that an update soak test is starting soon. Moto uses these soak tests to test an update with a wider group of users outside of its internal testers before pushing the update to the public.
The email doesn’t say what the new update includes, but there’s a chance that it’ll include Android Nougat. The Moto X Pure Edition is still on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but Motorola confirmed last year that the Moto X Pure Edition would be updated to Nougat. Considering that Nougat came out months ago, there’s a chance that Moto has spent at least some of this time working on Nougat for the Moto X Pure Edition and is now ready to test the update with a wider audience.
It’s kind of a bummer that Nougat is taking this long to get to the Moto X Pure Edition considering that it used to get updates in a speedy manner, but hey, at least Moto X Pure Edition owners know that a Nougat update is coming at some time. Hopefully that time is soon.
