Android Wear 2.0 Developer Preview 5 now available, includes iOS support

Android Wear 2.0 is expected to launch next month, but before it does, Google has dropped another developer preview of the update.

Android Wear 2.0 Developer Preview 5 is now available, and Google says that it’s the final preview release. Support for iOS is included here, meaning that you can finally pair your Android Wear 2.0 preview device to an iPhone to test your apps. Also included are several bug fixes and enhancements.

Google says that apps compiled with Android Wear 2.0 Developer Preview 5 are ready for final submission to the Play Store. If you want your Android Wear app to be ready for 2.0 when the update rolls out to the public, it’d probably be a good idea to test and compile it with this update.

Google reaffirmed today that Android Wear 2.0 will launch in early February. No exact date has been given, but the rumor mill has suggested that February 9 will be the day. Android Wear 2.0 will bring with it a number of new features, including Android Pay support on NFC-equipped watches, standalone apps, and more.
