Moto Z owners on Verizon have been on Android 7.0 for months now, but owners of the unlocked Z haven’t been so lucky. The good news is that Moto has finally revealed when the unlocked Moto Z will get its own helping of Nougat.
Moto says that the unlocked Moto Z will receive its Android 7.0 update in February. The company went on to tell Android Police that the unlocked Moto Z Play and the Moto Z Play Droid Edition on Verizon will be updated to Nougat in March.
The update to Android 7.0 is a significant one for the Moto Z, as it brings with it support for Google’s Daydream VR platform. The Moto Z Play won’t get that same feature, but an update to Nougat will still be significant for the device, as it’ll add new features like direct replies and bundled notifications. Plus, it’s always good to be on the latest major revision of Android.
