It’s finally happening, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge owners. Android Nougat is coming your way.
Samsung has started pushing its official Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. The catch is that the update is currently only rolling out to folks that participated in Samsung’s Nougat beta test.
The update is 214MB in size and is Android 7.0, not 7.1.1. Included are the January 1 security patches as well as an updated user experience, better usability in the notifications and quick settings, better multi-window usability, and more.
This Nougat update will take some time to hit all Galaxy S7 and S7 edge models. This is especially true for those models in the US, where updates typically have to go through carrier testing before they’re pushed to users. All that said, today’s rollout shows that Samsung is done testing its Nougat update for the S7 and S7 edge and is ready to begin pushing it to the public, and that’s worth getting excited about if you own either of Samsung’s flagships.
