There’s no shortage of ways to take your photo and share it with others, including your phone’s native camera app, Snapchat, Instagram, and others. Today Facebook is rolling out a new Messenger camera in the hopes that you’ll use it over the other options.
The new Messenger camera is always readily available, whether you’re in a conversation or looking at your list of chats. Tapping the shutter button will snap a photo, and holding it down will record a video.
The new Messenger camera also includes new visual effects, like the ability to add 3D masks, special effects, and filters to your photos. You can also add art and stickers to your text messages by tapping the palette icon that’s next to the shutter.
Adding masks, filters, and other effects to your photos is a hot trend in mobile now, so it’s no surprise to see Facebook add these features to its new Messenger camera. It sounds like there are plenty of goodies to add to your Messenger photos, so if you’re a filter junkie, you should load up Messenger and check ‘em out.
