WhatsApp is now rolling out a major new feature to its mobile apps.
Video calling is now making its way to WhatsApp on Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone devices. The update will be rolling out over the coming days, so if you’re a WhatsApp user, keep an eye out for it.
This feature is pretty much what it sounds like, letting the two people in a call see each other while they chat. There’s a small window that lets you see yourself, and there are also buttons for flipping between your phone’s front and rear cameras as well as muting and hanging up the call.
WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world, and so the news that it’s adding video calling support to its mobile apps is a big deal. With it, the millions of people that use WhatsApp on Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone will be able to conduct video calls for no extra charge. WhatsApp isn’t the first app on the market to offer video calling, but now folks that use WhatsApp for all of their other messaging no longer have to jump to another app if they want to make a video call.
