More alleged Samsung Galaxy S8 details leak, including model numbers and screen sizes

We’re starting to see some Samsung Galaxy S8 details come out lately, like how it’ll include a digital assistant, and now some more information on the upcoming Android flagship appears to have surfaced.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature the model number SM-G950, says VentureBeat, while another Galaxy S8 variant will be the SM-G955. It’s also rumored that Samsung is prepping an SM-N950, which suggests that the company has a new Galaxy Note in the works.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge were SM-G930 and SM-G935, respectively. What happened to SM-G940 and SM-G945, you ask? There’s a Korean superstition with the number 4, and Samsung could skip SM-G940 and SM-G945 because of it.

In other Galaxy S8 news, Korean publication The Bell claims that Samsung’s two GS8 models will again be offered in two screen sizes. The screens will reportedly both be larger than this year’s GS7 and GS7 edge, though, with the Galaxy S8 coming in at 5.7 inches and the Galaxy S8 Plus having a 6.2-inch display.

In order to increase their display sizes without growing the footprint of the actual phones much, Samsung will allegedly skip the physical button on the Galaxy S8 variants, instead opting for on-screen buttons. Both displays are also expected to have curved edges.

The standard Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S7 phones have been good options for people that want a “smaller” flagship Android phone in recent years. However, if Samsung can offer a larger display in a similar footprint by omitting physical and capacitive buttons, it could go that route and then make the other Galaxy S8 variant even larger for fans of big phones.

What do you make of today’s Galaxy S8 rumors? Does either the GS8 or GS8 Plus as described in today’s reports interest you?
