Just as promised, Google is now rolling out the Android 7.1 Developer Preview.
The Android 7.1 Developer Preview is now available to the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, and Pixel C. Google says that the preview will be offered to more devices in November.
If you’ve got a 5X, 6P, or Pixel C, there are a couple of ways for you to install the update. You can enroll in the Android Beta Program and then get updates over the air. If you’re already in the Android Beta Program, you don’t have to do anything. Another option is to download and flash the Android 7.1 Developer Preview manually.
As for what’s included in this update, the new features include App Shortcuts, which let you long-press on an app icon to jump to a specific part of the app. Think of it as Google’s answer to 3D Touch on Apple’s iOS devices. Also included is support for round icons and image keyboard, the latter of which will let you insert images and other content from a keyboard.
Now that it’s available, will you install the Android 7.1 Developer Preview?
