Last year, Google came out with a new router called OnHub, which was designed to make connecting to Internet easier, faster, and more accessible. It was also kind of quirky because it was a router that was designed to be seen and not hidden (which I can relate to, as I constantly try to edge my old router further and further behind the TV because it’s so out of place). However, as we learned during Google event today, OnHub is stepping aside in favor of the new Google Wi-Fi.

Google Wi-Fi does everything that OnHub does and more. With new Google Wi-Fi, you can place multiple Wi-Fi access points around the home for a stronger connection. These Google Wi-Fi devices essentially do the hard work for you as you move around your home, switching you to the best access point with the strongest frequency for your device. You also have more control over your Wi-Fi directly from your phone, allowing you to pause Wi-Fi access to other devices as needed.

Google Wi-Fi will begin taking pre-orders in November, and ships in December. Pricing starts at $129 for a 1-pack, or $299 for a 3-pack for larger homes.
