Earlier this week, Samsung shipped 500,000 Galaxy Note 7 devices to the US to replace the potentially dangerous models that were in the wild. Now the company has given us an update on how the exchange process is going.

Samsung says that “about half” of all recalled Galaxy Note 7 phones sold in the US have been exchanged. Of those devices that’ve been exchanged, 90 percent of customers have replaced their defective Note 7 for a safe Note 7.

The recalled Note 7 devices are dangerous because if they catch fire, they could hurt a person or cause property damage. The US CPSC previously said that there were 92 reports of overheating Note 7s in the US, including 26 reports of burns and 55 reports of property damage. That’s why it’s good to see that half of the recalled Note 7s in the US have already been exchanged. Here’s to hoping that the other half gets swapped out just as quickly.
