Now that Apple’s iPhone 7 is official, the mobile world is turning its attention to October 4, the date when Google is expected to introduce its new Pixel phones. Ahead of that date, though, the leaks of the new phones are continuing to flow.
New images of what’s said to be the Pixel, aka Sailfish, have leaked out. The renders have been shared by Android Authority and @OnLeaks, and they’re “factory renders,” which suggests that they’re based on factory CADs used to manufacture a device.
The device in these renders looks similar to the Sailfish that we’ve seen in previously leaked photos and renders. There’s a glass panel at the top of the device that includes the rear camera and fingerprint reader and antenna lines on the metal body. We can also see what are likely the power/lock and volume buttons on the side of the phone, a headphone jack up top, and USB Type-C port on the bottom.
Rumors have suggested that the Pixel (codename Sailfish) and Pixel XL (codename Marlin) will have similar designs, just that the Marlin will be a bit bigger. It’s also been suggested that Google will offer an aluminum version with a white front and possibly an “Electric Blue” model with a blue back and white front.
When it comes to specs, the Sailfish is rumored to be coming with a 5-inch 1920x1080 display, 12-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel cameras, quad-core Snapdragon processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 2,770mAh battery. The larger Marlin will reportedly have a similar feature set, but with a bigger 5.5-inch 2560x1440 screen and 3,450mAh battery.
