Rumors have suggested that Apple will refresh its iPad hardware next year, and today info on the software upgrades that Apple has planned for its new tablets have leaked out.
Sources speaking to Bloomberg say that Apple is working on adding support for the Apple Pencil to more of its iOS apps. For example, Apple may allow users to annotate objects in apps like Mail, Safari, and iMessages.
It’s said that Apple could roll out these new software features as part of an iOS 10 update in the first half of 2017, or as part of iOS 11 later in the year.
Apple is reportedly planning to beef up its iPad hardware, too. Those updates include faster display tech that’ll make zooming and scrolling more smooth.
Increased support for the Apple Pencil throughout iOS could help to make the iPad Pro more attractive to power users, letting them take notes and annotate inside of many of iOS’s default apps. And then there’s the improved display tech, which is something that most everyone could appreciate. The only downside is that we’ll have to wait until next year to give these new features a try.
