Google and HTC's Nexus Sailfish phone revealed in leaked photos

We’ve seen quite a few 2016 Nexus leaks to date, including spec rumors and design renders. Those leaks continue today with the one that most folks were probably waiting for: real images.

Images of what’s said to be the Sailfish Nexus have leaked out. As a reminder, it’s expected that the designs of the Sailfish and Marlin will be similar, with the Sailfish just being a smaller phone. So while these images show the Sailfish, you can expect the Marlin to look similar.

The Sailfish images leaked today look fairly similar to the renders that we previously saw. The device has a body that’s predominantly metal, save for a glass section on its backside. Inside that glass section lives the rear camera and fingerprint sensor. The bottom of the phone has an antenna line on it, and while there’s no “G” logo to be found on this model, it’s expected that the production version of the Sailfish will have a “G” logo.

Previous rumors have suggested that in addition to this black phone, Google and HTC are prepping an aluminum version with a white front. Also rumored is an Electric Blue variant with a blue back and white front, though it’s unclear if that version will actually be released.

You can see HTC in this leaked Sailfish Nexus design, with a bit of HTC 10 showing through. The look is unique, though, thanks to that glass section on the backside. The good news is that unlike with last year’s Nexus 5X and 6P, both the Sailfish and Marlin are expected to share the design you see above, meaning that they’ll both have a premium feel rather than one being plastic and one being metal.

What do you think of this leaked Sailfish Nexus design?
