Back in May, ZTE introduced its new Axon 7 flagship smartphone, complete with high-end specs like a 5.5-inch Quad HD display and Snapdragon 820. The only problem? ZTE didn’t share any launch or pricing info for its new phone. Today all of those details have finally been revealed.
The ZTE Axon 7 is now available for pre-order from ZTE, Amazon, Best Buy, B&H Photo Video, and Newegg. Pricing is set at $399.98, and you’ve got your choice of Ion Gold and Quartz Gray color options. The Ion Gold model is expected to begin shipping on July 27, while the Quartz Gray will start going out August 17.
The Axon 7 boasts an aluminum unibody design with a 20-megapixel camera and fingerprint reader on its backside. Around front, there’s an 8-megapixel selfie camera, front-facing speakers, and a 5.5-inch 2560x1440 AMOLED display. And inside of that metal shell lives a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a microSD slot that doubles as a second SIM slot, and a 3140mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. When it comes to wireless connectivity, the Axon 7 supports LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 17, 20, 25, 26, 29, 30, and 31.
On the software side, the Axon 7 runs Android 6.0.1 beneath ZTE’s MiFavor 4.0 user interface. Also of note is that the Axon 7 will work with Google’s Daydream virtual reality offering when that platform launches this fall.
The Axon 7 impresses on paper, offering a bevy of high-end specs like a Snapdragon 820, Quad HD screen, fingerprint reader, and fast-charging tech, all for a price that’s hundred less than many other flagships. Now we just have to wait for it to launch so that we can put it through its paces and see how it stacks up to other flagships on the market.
What do you think of the Axon 7? Are you considering pre-ordering one?
