When the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge debuted earlier this year, Sprint announced a new program called Galaxy Forever that would let you upgrade to a new Galaxy phone any time after making 12 payments on your current Galaxy on a Sprint lease. Fast-forward a few months, though, and Galaxy Forever is no more.
Sprint appears to have canceled its Galaxy Forever promotion. The big yellow carrier no longer offers a leasing option for the Galaxy S7 edge (though there is one for the regular S7), and several Sprint retail stores told FierceWireless that they’re no longer offering the promo.
While Sprint itself hasn’t confirmed the end of Galaxy Forever, a Sprint retail rep on Reddit recently put up a post that says that Galaxy Forever ended on June 23.
As with most carrier promos, any Sprint customers that are currently enrolled in Galaxy Forever ought to be able to remain on it, at least until they upgrade to a new phone.
The Galaxy Forever was meant to be an Android version of Sprint’s iPhone Forever program — which is still active — by giving folks a way to upgrade to a new Samsung Galaxy flagship every 12 months. It’s unclear why Sprint has pulled the plug on Galaxy Forever, but its end is a bummer for Sprint customers that were planning on using it as an easy way to upgrade to a new flagship Galaxy every year.
