Jolla’s Sailfish OS is primarily known for being on the Jolla smartphone, the Jolla C, and the Jolla Tablet, but Sailfish OS is being used on non-Jolla hardware. The Turing Phone recently switched from Android to Sailfish OS, and now there’s another non-Jolla phone that runs Sailfish.
The Oysters SF is a mid-range Sailfish OS smartphone that’s going to launch in Russia this summer. It’s got a 5-inch display, 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, 16GB of storage, and a microSD slot for adding more storage. Powering the Oysters SF is a combination of an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 3000mAh battery.
While the Oysters SF isn’t going to blow your hair back with high-end performance, it actually offers pretty good specs compared to Jolla’s two Sailfish smartphones. The design of the Oysters SF isn’t to shabby, either. So if you’re a diehard Sailfish OS fan and live in Russia — or you can figure out a way to get the Oysters SF shipped to your doorstep — it may be worth keeping an eye out for this new Sailfish OS phone this summer.
