Earlier this year, several details of a high-end Windows 10 Mobile phone called the Alcatel Idol 4 Pro leaked out. One bit of info that was missing, however, was where we might see the device land. Now that detail appears to have been revealed by the Wi-Fi Alliance.
The Alcatel Idol 4 Pro was recently certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance, and unless you’re really into Wi-Fi tech, the certification itself doesn’t appear terribly exciting. That is, until you glance at the “Product” field and see that it says “IDOL4 PRO TMO.”
We’ll have to wait for an official announcement from Alcatel and T-Mobile before we know for sure whether or not the Idol 4 Pro is coming to Magenta, but this Wi-Fi Alliance certification sure does seem to suggest that that’ll be the case. There are several other Alcatel devices in the Wi-Fi Alliance certification database that also include “TMO” in their product names and were released on T-Mobile, like the Fierce XL and Pop Astro.
As a refresher, the Idol 4 Pro is rumored to run Windows 10 Mobile on a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 AMOLED display. Its spec list is also rumored to include a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, 21-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front cameras, a 3000mAh battery, and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. Also rumored to be included is support for Continuum, a feature that enables you to hook a Windows 10 Mobile phone up to a TV or monitor and use it like a full-fledged PC.
T-Mobile customers do currently have access to a Windows 10 Mobile smartphone thanks to the launch of the Fierce XL earlier this year, but that’s more of an entry-level model. The Idol 4 Pro is the opposite of entry-level, and if it does indeed launch at T-Mobile, could be an exciting device for T-Mo customers that also happen to be dedicated Windows supporters.
