In addition to talking a bit about Android N during its I/O keynote today and revealing that the full Android N name is being crowd-sourced, Google today unleashed another preview release of the next major Android update.
Android N Developer Preview 3 is now rolling out as build NPD35K. The update is available to the range of Nexus devices that’ve been able to run Android N previews before, like the Nexus 6P and Nexus 9, as well as the General Mobile 4G and the Sony Xperia Z3.
Google says that this update is a “beta” release and that it should be stable enough for day-to-day release. So if you’ve been eager to try Android N before the general public but don’t want to risk screwing up your expensive smartphone, now may be the time to jump in.
As for what’s new in Android N Developer Preview 3, Google has shared a full list of tweaks that it’s made in the update. For example, it brings the beginnings of VR Mode for Android, letting developers begin to play with the virtual reality support that Google is baking into Android with the Daydream platform.
If you’re already running the Android N Developer Preview, you should be able to grab Developer Preview 3 right now. If you’re not, you can get all the install instructions that you need right here.
The full Android N release will happen later this year.
