When the HTC 10 made its debut earlier this month, one of the interesting aspects of the new Android phone was the fact that it lacked the “One” branding that several other recent HTC flagships carried. HTC’s One brand isn’t dead, though, as the company today introduced a new One phone.
The HTC One S9 was announced in Europe today, and the device bears a heavy resemblance to the HTC One M9. Its specs are quite different, though, with the One S9 packing features like a 5-inch 1920x1080 display, 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, and a front-facing UltraPixel camera.
HTC’s One S9 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor and it also includes 2GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage (9.24GB available to the user), a microSD slot for adding up to 2TB more storage, and a 2840mAh battery. Rounding out the One S9’s feature set is a pair of BoomSound front-facing speakers and Android 6.0 running beneath HTC’s custom Sense user interface.
The HTC One S9 is now available for €499 Euros, or around $563 USD, which seems a bit pricey given the phone’s spec list. To compare, the same retailer that’s charging €499 for the One S9 is asking €404.90 for the HTC One M9, which has a 5-inch 1920x1080 display, octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 20-megapixel rear camera. If you prefer the look of the slimmer BoomSound speakers on the One S9, though, the new HTC Android phone is now available in Germany.
