UPDATE: Now a source says that the iPhone 5se's power button will actually be on the top of the device, like the iPhone 5s, rather than on its side.
The rumor mill has spilled quite a few alleged details of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5se in recent months, including some info about its design. It’s been expected that the iPhone 5se will look fairly similar to the iPhone 5s, but today a new report suggests that there will be a couple of small tweaks.
Purported iPhone 5se schematics leaked to 9to5Mac support the rumors that Apple’s new 4-inch iPhone will have a design that’s reminiscent of the iPhone 5s, but whereas the iPhone 5s had its power/lock button on the top of its body, the iPhone 5se’s power/lock button will allegedly be located on upper right side of the device. That lines up with the alleged iPhone 5se that appeared in a leaked photo last month. Such a change makes sense, as that’s also where the button is located on the iPhone 6s.
Meanwhile, these case maker schematics show that the iPhone 5se will have slight curves on its front glass and its edges. These curves aren’t quite as dramatic as those on the iPhone 6s, but they will be different from the iPhone 5s, which are chamfered and angled.
While its design may look like the iPhone 5s, the iPhone 5se’s internals will reportedly be more like a mix of the iPhone 6 and 6s. For example, it’ll allegedly combine the A9 processor, Live Photos, and Gold, Rose Gold, Space Gray, and Silver color options of the iPhone 6s with the 8-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel front cameras found on the iPhone 6. Also expected to be included is NFC support for Apple Pay.
It’s rumored that Apple will show the iPhone 5se on March 15 and then follow up with a launch on March 18.
