One week after confirming that the LG G5 will make its debut on February 21, LG has dropped a teaser for its next Android flagship.
A new teaser GIF for the LG G5 has been posted to LG Mobile’s Facebook page, showing several smartphone displays dimming before an outline of the G5 appears with the time, date, and some alerts appear on its darkened screen. The words “Always ON” appear next to the G5 itself, and the caption attached to the GIF reads “Never go asleep while others do.”
LG isn’t totally new to always-on displays, as the secondary ticker screen on the LG V10 can be set to be always-on and display info like the time and date. However, this always-on information appears closer to the middle of the G5’s screen, while the V10’s is at the top of its body. Perhaps LG has created its own feature similar to Google’s Ambient Display and Motorola’s Active Display, which display info like the time, date, and alerts without lighting up the whole screen.
We’ll have to wait until February 21 to find out exactly what LG has planned for the G5, but an always-on display feature would be a nice addition to the company’s next Android flagship.
