As we march closer to February 21 and the official debut of the Samsung Galaxy S7, more details of Samsung’s next Android flagship continue to leak out.
Two Samsung phones that are thought to be the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have appeared in the FCC. The filings are for devices with the model numbers SM-G930 and SM-G935, which are thought to the the GS7 and GS7 edge, respectively. However, there are five different model numbers for each phone listed, with four for the four major US carriers and one for regional operators. So the SM-G930V is the Verizon Galaxy S7, the SM-G935T is the Galaxy S7 edge for T-Mobile, and so on.
While the FCC filings don’t really go into detail on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge’s spec lists, the entries do shed light on the network bands that the two phones will support. The Verizon model has LTE bands 2, 4, 5, and 13; T-Mobile’s has 2, 4, 5, and 12; Sprint’s boasts 2, 4, 5, 12, 25, 26, and 41; and AT&T’s has LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 29, and 30. The Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile phones all include Voice over Wi-Fi support, and the Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile models have Voice over LTE as well.
Rounding out the info revealed by the FCC, each phone includes standard smartphone goodies like Bluetooth and GPS, as well as NFC and MST for Samsung Pay.
While there’s not really any crazy new info about the Galaxy S7 or S7 edge revealed in these FCC entries, they do help to paint a more full picture of Samsung’s new phones before they’re announced. That announcement is expected to happen on February 21, with launches rumored for as soon as March 11.
