Xiaomi has become known for offering well-specced Android phones for low prices, and today it introduced another handset that fits that description.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 features a 5-inch 1280x720 display and 5-megapixel camera on its face, as well as a 13-megapixel camera with speedy phase detection autofocus on its backside. Inside of its metal body — which features a diamond pattern on its rear — lives an octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD slot, dual SIM slots and a 4100mAh battery.

On the software side of things, Xiaomi’s Redmi 3 is running Android beneath its custom MIUI 7 user interface.

While the Redmi 3 sounds like a decent Android phone on paper, the main draw is its price. Xiaomi says that the Redmi 3 will launch on January 12 for 699 Yuan, or around $106 USD. That’s pretty cheap for a new smartphone, doubly so for smartphone with spec list that includes a metal body and an octa-core processor. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has only announced a Chinese launch for the Redmi 3, so those of us in other markets will just have to ogle the phone from our computer screens.
