Verizon offering free iPhone, Galaxy memory upgrades this weekend

This weekend only, Verizon is offering memory upgrade deals on Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

On the Apple side of things, customers that buy an iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus can get a 64GB model for the price of the 16GB, or a 128GB handset for the price of a 64GB unit. Each deal is a savings of $100. Verizon notes that a new device payment plan activation is required, so keep that in mind if you’re thinking about upgrading.

Meanwhile, Verizon is offering a similar deal on Samsung’s Galaxy flagships. That means that you can buy the Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, or Galaxy Note 5 and get the 64GB model for the price of the 32GB version, which is a savings of $96. As with the iPhone offer, a new device payment plan activation is required.

Verizon also has a deal for the DROID Turbo 2. If you buy Motorola’s new phone on a device payment plan, Verizon will throw in a free 32GB SanDisk microSD card, which will double the phone’s storage. Once again, a new device payment plan activation is required.

Rounding out the deals is a trade-in offer that Verizon has been running for a while but is still worth mentioning. Verizon says that if you trade in a smartphone that’s in good working condition, it’ll give you a $300 Verizon gift card. To qualify, you’ll need to get switch to Verizon or add a line to an existing account and then buy a device on a payment plan.

It’s worth mentioning again that Verizon’s double memory promos are only good for this weekend. Apple’s iPhones and Samsung’s Galaxy phones don’t have expandable storage, meaning that you’re stuck with whatever the phones come with, so Verizon’s offer is a good way to get more internal storage (which is always a good thing) for no additional cost.
