Heads up, Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview members, because Microsoft is pushing an update your way.
Microsoft has released Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build 10586.29 to both the Fast and Slow rings. As you may have noticed, that build number is largely the same as the one associated with last month’s update, but with a “.29” added to the end. Microsoft explains that this is a Cumulative Update that only includes fixes to the build that’s already in use.
Build 10586.29 includes improvements to the entire upgrade experience, better backwards compatibility with Windows Phone 8.1 Silverlight apps, improvements to the Edge browser, and more. Here’s Microsoft’ official list:
Microsoft also notes that this update will bring new devices into the Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview program. Those include the LG Lancet, Microsoft Lumia 550, Lumia 950, and Lumia 950 XL. Those phones will be added to the program early next week.
A Cumulative Update may not be quite as exciting as a full-on new build, but improvements that make your phone run better are still worth getting excited about. And with this new build, owners of Microsoft’s new Lumia 950 and 950 XL can get in on the Insider Preview program, which is exciting news for those folks that have a new Lumia and like to live on the bleeding edge.
