When HTC made the One A9 official earlier this month, it said that its new hero Android phone would cost just $399.99 unlocked for a “limited time” in the US. Now we know how much the One A9 will cost after the promotional period ends.
HTC says that the One A9’s promotional price of $399.99 will last until November 7. Once 12:01 am on November 7 rolls around in the US, the unlocked One A9’s price will go up a full $100, leaving it at $499.99.
At $399.99, the HTC One A9 is a pretty interesting option for folks looking for an unlocked smartphone, especially considering the One A9’s premium materials and HTC’s promise of Android OS updates within 15 days of Google’s Nexus push. At $499.99, though, the One A9 is a tougher pill to swallow. Sure, it’s still a nice phone, but at that price it’s competing directly with the Nexus 6P, a smartphone with higher-end specs and faster updates that come directly from Google.
When it comes to the rest of the world, HTC says that its regional sales teams are free to set the price of the One A9 as they see fit. That explains why the UK pricing for the One A9 is set at £469.99 ($721 USD).
