When HTC first announced the One M9 back in March, it said that it’d offer its new Android flagship in four colors: silver, gunmetal gray, pink, and gold. We’ve seen three of those models appear in the US, but the pink model has been nowhere to be found. That’s changing today.
HTC is now selling a pink version of the One M9 on its US website. The pink One M9 is being offered as a part of Breast Cancer Awareness month, which involves a lot of companies painting things pink. With the One M9, you can get either a regular pink model or a phone with a Breast Cancer Research Foundation ribbon pasted on its backside. Each purchase also comes with $100 in Google Play credit and a pink Dot View Ice case.
The pink HTC One M9 costs $649 and it’ll be available through October 31 at 11:59 pm PT. It’s worth noting that the pink One M9 doesn’t work on Sprint or Verizon, so you’ll need to be on a GSM carrier to actually use it. Also worth pointing out is that HTC doesn’t appear to be donating the proceeds of pink One M9 purchases or anything like that, though the company does say that it’s donating $25,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
It is nice to the pink One M9 finally make its way to the US, though it would’ve been better for the device to arrive stateside closer to the One M9’s initial launch so that folks that wanted a pink M9 could get one right away. As for the whole Breast Cancer Awareness tie-in, at least HTC is making a donation while also launching this pink M9, rather than only using the month as a way to sell some phones.
