Less than 24 hours after some Lumia 950 renders leaked, some more images of Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 10 Mobile phone have leaked. The difference is that these new photos show the device in the flesh.
These new photos give us perhaps our best look yet at Microsoft’s Lumia 950 (above left). There are two interesting tidbits to take note of in these photos: the triple camera flash and iris scanner. First up, the triple flash for the rear camera is notable because it was originally thought that the Lumia 950 XL (above right) would be the only one with a triple flash, leaving the Lumia 950 with a mere double flash. However, the Lumia 950 in these photos appears to have a triple flash just like the 950 XL.
Meanwhile, the front of the Lumia 950 has an iris scanner, which will be used to unlock your phone just by looking at it. This is a feature that we’ve known about for some time now, but these new images give us an extremely clear look at the scanner.
One other noteworthy tidbit is that the Lumia 950 in these photos shows dual SIM slots in its status bar, suggesting that the 950 will be sold in a dual SIM version.
The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are shaping up to be some nice additions to the Windows smartphone family. Of course, it’s been a year and a half since Microsoft introduced the last Windows flagship smartphone, so it’s no surprise that the follow-ups will offer some notable spec bumps. Regardless, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL look like solid devices that should please fans of Microsoft’s mobile platform.
Both the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are expected to be officially announced at Microsoft’s October 6 event.
