There was lots of new hardware at Google’s event today, including new Nexus phones, new Chromecasts, and a Pixel C tablet. That’s not all of the news that Google announced at the show, though.
Google today confirmed that it’ll be adding a family plan to its Google Play Music streaming service. The family plan will be priced at $14.99 per month and will let you add up to 6 people to your plan. Each user will be able to stream as much as they’d like, and each one will get tailored recommendations, too.
Google also announced that its new Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P phones will be compatible with Project Fi, its wireless service that combines the Sprint and T-Mobile networks. If you do decide to buy one of the new phones, you’ll be able to sign up for Google’s new Nexus Protect insurance program, which offers 2 years of protection for mechanical issues and accidental damage. Nexus Protect costs $69 for the Nexus 5X and $89 for the Nexus 6P, and it’s available in the US starting today with more countries to follow.
Finally, Google says that owners of previous Nexus devices will start to see Android 6.0 next week. The Marshmallow update will begin pushing next week to the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player.
