Google Street View app launches on Android and iOS

Street View has long been a part of Google Maps, letting you check out the real world and see exactly what a location looks like. This week Street View got a promotion, as Google gave the feature its very own app.

The Street View app is now available for Android and iOS, giving you quick access to Street View just like you’d use it in Google Maps and letting you explore locations around the globe, both exterior and interior. There’s more to the app than that, though, because it also lets you capture 360-degree photo spheres and contribute them to Google Maps so that others can see them.

It’s worth noting that Street View isn’t a totally new app. Instead, it replaces the old Photo Sphere Camera app. So if you’ve already got Photo Sphere Camera installed, you should see an update that’ll change it to Street View.

Google Street View is a pretty great feature because it can come in handy for checking out a location that you plan to travel to, but it’s also fun to just dink around with and check out random locations around the globe. And now you can easily use Street View from you Android and iOS phone. Sounds to me like a good time killer.
