The OnePlus 2 has officially been available for more than two weeks now, but because you need an invitation to buy one, most folks have actually been able to buy the device. The good news is that that might change soon.
OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei said today that an “aggressive invite rollout” will start next weekend. Pei goes on to note that he’s talking about next weekend, not this weekend, so it looks like he’s talking about the weekend of September 4.
As with the OnePlus One before it, the invitation system for the OnePlus 2 is frustrating some folks that want to buy a phone but haven’t gotten an invitation. OnePlus previously said that it’s got 30 to 50 times more OnePlus 2 launch inventory than it had with the OnePlus One, though, so here’s to hoping that this “aggressive invite rollout” will result in a healthy number of folks waiting for a OnePlus 2 actually getting a chance to buy one.
