LG G Pad II 10.1 debuts with Snapdragon 800, Android 5.1.1

A little more than a week after silently taking the wraps off of the G Pad II 8.0, LG has revealed that tablet’s larger sibling. Size isn’t the only thing that’s different about this new device, though.

The LG G Pad II 10.1 is now officially official, boasting a 10.1-inch 1920x1080 display. One special feature of the G Pad II 10.1’s screen is Reader Mode, which reduces the blue light of the screen’s backlighting so that reading is more comfortable. The G Pad II 10.1’s also got Dual Window for running two apps side-by-side and QuickMemo+, which lets you create and save apps from any screen.

Powering the LG G Pad II 10.1 is a 2.26GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, up from the Snapdragon 400 chip found in the G Pad II 8.0. The larger G Pad II 10.1’s also got more RAM than the G Pad II 8.0, offering 2GB instead of 1.5GB. Rounding out the G Pad II 10.1’s spec list is 16GB of storage, a microSD slot, 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, a 7400mAh battery, and Android 5.1.1 running beneath LG’s custom user interface.

While the G Pad II 10.1 does offer several spec upgrades over the G Pad II 8.0, the larger tablet appears to have lost a notable feature that the smaller model has: LG’s G Pad II 10.1 announcement makes no mention of a full-size USB port like the one included with the G Pad II 8.0.

LG is keeping pretty mum about the G Pad II 10.1’s availability, saying only that the device will be sold in Wi-Fi and LTE models in “key markets” in North America, Europe, and Asia. The Life’s Good crew does plan to show the G Pad II 10.1 at IFA next month, though, so we’ll get to spend some hands-on time with the new slate before its release.
